J-Power Systems is a joint venture between Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI) and Hitachi Cable, renowned leaders in Japan for High Voltage Cable manufacturing. Created in October 2001, this 50:50 joint venture merged development techniques, manufacturing capability, and engineering know how to offer customers satisfaction for each and every need.

Sumitomo Electric U.S.A Inc (SEUSA) supplies J-Power System's EHV cable accessories such as joint and termination from 66kV to 500kV as well as distribution cable accessories under 35kV in the U.S., Canada and Central/South America. J-Power Systems designs, develops and manufactures various cable accessories to the needs and specifications of customers to ensure the quality and reliability of transmission and distribution system. Though J-Power Systems can manufacture any type of accessories, we recommend prefabricated terminations and premolded joints (splices) for XLPE cables because of easier assembling and higher reliability. J-Power Systems has supplied a large number of these accessories for commercial use over the past decade. J-Power Systems manufactures special type accessories such as transition joint or Y-branch joint.

Self Pressurized Type Premolded Joint
J-Power System's premolded joint called SPJ (Self Pressurized Joint) is available for XLPE cables from 22kV to 275kV. Main insulation of J-Power System's premolded joint is factory assembled and voltage tested prior to shipping. Instead of a large number of parts for conventional site works for tape wrapped joints, J-Power System's premolded joints are cost-efficient due to easier assembling and reduced splicing work. In addition, J-Power System's premolded joint can be expanded to 200% of its diameter, it makes overall splice length shorter than other manufacturer's premolded joints, which is another cost-effective factor.
Other Joints
J-Power Systems manufactures other types of joints such as cold shrink joints, prefabricated joints, transition joints, y -branch joints and field molded joints.
Terminations
J-Power Systems manufactures prefabricated type outdoor sealing end and SF6 switchgear sealing end. The prefabricated type of main insulation is assembled on site by using parts manufactured in the factory and tested before delivery. For switchgear and transformer, prefabricated type SF6 gas insulated sealing and oil-immersed sealing ends are available at different rated voltage. Dimension and scope of supply of SEI's sealing ends comply with IEC 60859.
Special Tools
J-Power Systems supplies various types of special tools and equipment for EHV and distribution underground cables such as insulation shaver, insulation sander, cable bender, under roller jack, compression heads up to 200 ton, etc. Because of J-Power System's extensive cable installation and splicing records, it can offer most the suitable tools and equipment to the requirement of customers.
